Workstation vs. gaming graphic cards
That is why in old games the characters have angular shapes — the computing power of that time allowed operating only a small number of polygons. As video cards improved, the number of polygons in models increased, characters became more realistic, sharp corners smoothed out. This can be clearly seen in the example of various remasters, for example, Crash Bandicoot.
On average, there are 15 to 45 thousand of these triangles per character. There are over 80 thousand polygons in his model. Now imagine that there are several characters on the screen and various other objects of the environment.
Gaming graphics cards have to handle the position of a couple of hundred thousand polygons, not to mention the imposition of other effects. If we talk about a gaming video card, then its task is to arrange all polygons in space, draw textures, shading, create dynamic lighting and anti-aliasing. As a result, we see the final frame with all the effects on the screen. Professional video cards are often needed for CAD, business applications, visualization, engineering calculations.
A professional video card does essentially the same thing as a gaming one, but with a few nuances. In highly specialized 3D models, you do not need to apply various effects that make the graphics photorealistic. Accuracy is of the utmost importance in design and development, as real things are usually done from the models created. Accordingly, the number of polygons can be several times higher than the previously described numbers — up to several million per scene. More video memory.
It takes a lot of memory to handle a huge number of polygons. If you take a top-end gaming video card based on a similar architecture GTX Ti early , then it has only 11 GB of memory. Rigid standardization. If that is so, I am not able to find an article that provides a detailed analysis of the differences — both for NVidia and AMD.
If you or another author has done an in-depth review, could you please share the link? One thing in particular I am exploring is the ability to share the card across many VMs. Could you shed some light on this? Well it is both the stability and performance but if we compare a similarly priced gaming and workstation card then the gaming card will offer better performance most of the time but we cannot guarantee stability. You can check out this article that compares performance of various workstation cards in different software.
If you have choice between all of them which one would you pick? If you have a choice between 1 and 3? If you have choice between 1 and 2?
I am wondering is it better to go with Dell Precision because there are more optimized for performance , they have Dell Optimizer which is a built-in, AI-based optimization software, ISV certification to ensure that high-performance applications run smoothly, more energy efficiency etc. I would appreciate your opinion. Wich one would be better?
If the Quadro is better, would the difference be noticeable since the Quadro is twice as expensive. For purely workstation purpose, I think it is better to go with the Quadro P as it will perform better. Need some help with the gpu. Not sure which way to go. Something like a quardro p or maybe a gtx I will NOT be doing any gaming at all. Just trading software, office apps and streaming like youtube and news feeds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any other recommendations regarding my build are also welcome. Was going to go with Amd ryzen 9 x or ryzen 7 x. I think GTX is a better option as it is more powerful and is built on the newer and advanced architecture.
It will also help you stream better. I have two options and I would like to have your opinion. RAM and hard drive are the same. I would prefer option 1 because it is much faster and should not have any issues with the CAD software. Notify me by email when the comment gets approved.

Rahul July 9, Akshat Verma July 9, The high-end graphics card would allow games to run with a high-quality visual, fast loading low polygon count , and high frames per second FPS to allow smooth gameplay.
In such software, they usually manipulate complex geometry and need to be able to deal with real world geometry.
These geometries could range from microns to miles and the calculations done has to be precise. Both workstation and gaming graphics cards have their own set of focus and specialisation due to the different requirements of the software they are built for.
